Not made in 2015

We were invited by a German publishing house to invent a new interface for their upcoming news aggregator. The mobile application would collect news from various feeds based on the reader’s preferences, and show gradually more of what the reader is interested in.

We came up with a touch-screen optimised navigation, where all sources and topics are represented in circles. These could be enlarged, minimised, moved, sorted, or even flicked around in a physics-based environment, allowing for a playful, dynamic fine-tuning of preferences, rather than simply switching items on or off.

Although concept and prototype were very well received, the client eventually opted for a more traditional approach without much customisation, thus rendering our interface ideas obsolete.
